Washington High School
Massillon, Ohio

Dear Alumni,

As President of the Alumni Association, it is my privilege to connect with each of you and celebrate the ongoing achievements of our vibrant WHS alumni community. Our shared experiences and lasting friendships have helped shape both our institution and our lives beyond graduation. Together, we continue to build a legacy of excellence, leadership, and support for our Massillon Tiger graduates.

Looking Ahead: Alumni Engagement and Upcoming Events

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all alumni who took the time to participate in our recent survey about reunions, whether online or by mail. The overwhelming response demonstrated the strong interest and commitment within our alumni community. Your input is invaluable and will directly influence our planning for future alumni gatherings and activities.

With this feedback in hand, we are excited to share that we have begun the early stages of organizing a WHS Alumni Weekend, tentatively scheduled for late summer 2027. While the details are still being developed, our goal is to create a memorable and meaningful event that brings together Tigers from across the years.

As part of this initiative, we plan to reach out to local businesses and foundations for support. If you are a business owner, we invite you to consider sponsoring this special event. Your involvement will help ensure its success and strengthen the ties within our alumni community.

Celebrating Spring Achievements

WHS students have continued to excel across academics, music, sports, and business this spring. The Massillon Tiger Boys Basketball team delivered an exceptional performance, sweeping Division II and earning Massillon’s first ever State Basketball Championship—a truly thrilling accomplishment. The team’s remarkable season concluded with a record of 27 wins and only 1 loss.

The Lady Tigers also stood out, capturing their second consecutive Division II district title. They finished their season strong with a 15-8 record, showcasing their skill and determination on the court.

Congratulations to all the student athletes and their coaches for an outstanding season!

Honoring Bob Wenzel’s Legacy

With the arrival of spring, we witness not only new growth in our alumni community but also significant transitions. For 25 years, Bob has faithfully produced newsletters twice a year, keeping our alumni informed and connected. His unwavering dedication, inspiring presence, and thoughtful, educational stories have enriched our association and strengthened our bonds. Although Bob is passing the reins to the next generation, his commitment endures—he will continue to serve on the WHSAA Scholarship Committee and act as a consultant for the WHSAA Board of Trustees. We deeply appreciate Bob’s contributions and look forward to his ongoing involvement.

Welcoming Our New Editor

We are excited to announce that this is the first edition of the WHSAA newsletter with Andrea Lorh, Class of 2006, serving as our new editor. As with any transition, you can expect to see some changes and fresh ideas in future editions.

If you have an interesting story or news to share with the alumni community, we encourage you to reach out to Andrea at . Your contributions are always welcome and help keep our newsletter engaging and meaningful.

Please join me and the WHSAA Board of Trustees in warmly welcoming Andrea to her new position within the WHSAA Board of Trustees!

Supporting WHSAA Operations

Continued financial support from our alumni community makes it possible for WHSAA to respond to funding requests from WHS organizations and clubs. It also allows us to produce our biannual newsletters, keeping everyone informed and engaged.

Please note that contributions made to the Scholarship Committee are reserved exclusively for student scholarships and are not used to support the operational costs of the WHSAA.

Thank you for your continued dedication and enthusiasm. I am excited to see what we will accomplish together in the coming months.

Go Tigers!!!
