We’re proud to shine this week’s Alumni Spotlight on Doremus “Corey” Redvine, a Massillon Washington graduate whose passion for community, youth, and giving back continues to make a powerful impact both on and off the court. From telecommunications to coaching and community leadership, Corey exemplifies what it means to be a Tiger for life.
Q: What year did you graduate from Massillon Washington High School?
A: I graduated in 2006.
Q: What activities, clubs, or sports were you involved in during your time at WHS?
A: I was involved in Telecommunications and Basketball.
Q: What is one of your favorite memories from your high school years?
A: Media class stands out the most. I learned a lot, and morning news quickly became a favorite—editing videos, creating highlights, and really discovering something I enjoyed beyond just sports.
Q: What have you gone on to achieve since graduation (career, education, military service, community involvement, etc.)?
A: I’ve spent the last 15 years helping run the REDD White & Blue community event on July 4th. I’ve served on City Council, been a candidate for State Representative, coached AAU basketball for over 20 years, worked as a basketball official, and owned my own landscaping business. Most importantly, I’m a super proud father and husband.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: Giving back to the community—especially the youth.
Q: How did your time at Massillon help prepare you for life after high school?
A: Tremendously. Telecommunications truly turned my life around. It helped me see that sports could be a tool to open doors, help others, and give back. It gave me skills that allowed me to be successful and adaptable no matter where life took me.
Q: What advice would you give to current Tigers?
A: Love. Show real love—it always circles back. To teachers, peers, everyone. We live and struggle together, so do right and show love.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share with fellow alumni?
A: Thank you!!! My friends and fellow alumni are now my best friends, family, sponsors, supportive voices, and amazing parents. Good job ❤️
