We’re thrilled to introduce Leanne Voshel, one of the dedicated leaders helping to keep Tiger pride strong within the Washington High School Alumni Association! Leanne’s passion for community and connection shines through everything she does.
Graduation Year and Activities:
I graduated from Washington High School in 1992. During my time at WHS, I served as Class Treasurer and was involved in volleyball, drama, pep club, French club, and Obie Friends.
Inspiration to Join the Board:
As times change, traditional class reunions are becoming a thing of the past. I wanted to help keep everyone in touch through more modern avenues—while also finding ways to rejuvenate some of the old traditions that make Massillon so special.
Role on the Board:
I currently serve as Co–Vice President for the Alumni Association. Right now, I’m jumping in wherever I can be of use to help accomplish our current board goals. I’m especially excited about working on new projects for next year and finding creative ways to engage our alumni community.
Favorite Memory or Fun Fact:
One of my favorite memories from high school is being a part of the drama productions in the old school. The auditorium—and the history it held—was truly awe-inspiring. A fun fact about me is that I was a member of the last senior class to attend the old high school and the first senior class to graduate from the new high school!
Advice for Students and Alumni:
I encourage all WHS alumni and students to stay involved in your community. There are so many wonderful things happening in Massillon, and our town truly is a special place. Staying connected helps keep our Tiger spirit alive for generations to come.
Board Experience:
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the other board members and working together to achieve our goals. Moving forward, I hope to expand our board membership and increase our involvement in community activities to continue strengthening the WHS Alumni Association.
