From leading on the field as a majorette to serving her community for decades, Linda Sasavicz has shown Tiger pride through and through!
We asked Linda to share her Massillon memories and what life has looked like since graduation—here’s what she had to say:

Q: What year did you graduate from Massillon Washington High School?
A: 1970
Q: What activities, clubs, or sports were you involved in during your time at WHS?
A: Band (majorette, Co-student director, basketball band, 1st chair clarinet, concert band), school newspaper, drama club, biology lab assistant, future teachers, homeroom officer, National Honor Society, Who’s Who in America, student social committee, & more!
Q: What is one of your favorite memories from your high school years?
A: On the field, when the lights went out at halftime for the leg light routine. (The majorettes could run around and torture classmates and never be seen…
)
Q: What have you gone on to achieve since graduation?
A: I earned a Master’s in Microbiology, a B.S. in English & Anthropology, and a minor in Biochemistry & Botany. I worked as a Day Shift Supervisor at Massillon Community Hospital Laboratory for 28 years, became a Master Gardener, captain of N.C. tennis teams, Booster Club exec., Touchdown Club, Orangemen, and took charge of the Walk of Pride Stadium bricks (aka brick layer extraordinaire…lol).
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: Microbiologist.
Q: How did your time at Massillon help prepare you for life after high school?
A: College prep courses and music prepared me well for the future. I also made a lot of great friends, and I still hang out with them today. (The “boosterettes” from my class still eat out once a month and talk about nothing but football. Ha!)
Q: What advice would you give to current Tigers?
A: Volunteer in your community. Help the Tiger clubs as much as possible. These help our students grow into productive adults. There is no place like Massillon!
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share with fellow alumni?
A: Always beat McKinley—every time, every sport, every year!
Thank you, Linda, for your lifelong dedication to education, community, and Tiger traditions. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!
