We’re excited to feature Destiny Stevenson in this week’s Alumni Spotlight! From her days in Swing Band and student leadership to launching a career in professional sports, Destiny’s journey shows the power of dedication, community, and true Tiger pride.

Q: What activities, clubs, or sports were you involved in during your time at WHS?
A: Swing Band, National Honors Society, National Technical, Miss Massillonian nominee, and Boys Varsity Basketball Manager.
Q: What is one of your favorite memories from your high school years?
A" Massillon vs. McKinley week, but more specifically when we beat McKinley at home during my senior year (2018-2019 season) and celebrating with everyone downtown afterwards.
Q: What have you gone on to achieve since graduation (career, education, military service, community involvement, etc.)?
A: I graduated from Stark State College in 2022 with two Associates in Sports Management and Business Management, then later graduated from Kent State University in 2024 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. During my college years (starting in 2022), I started my career with the Cleveland Guardians as a seasonal Fan Services teammate and now serve as an Account Specialist within the Season Service team, servicing season ticket members!
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: During my last semester of college, I received the Departmental Award for Management at Kent after being nominated by Dr. Blundell. This award came as a surprise to me prior to graduation and helped to highlight all of the work I put into finishing my degree in and out of the classroom while gaining a great mentor in Dr. Blundell and made finishing out my college career to be one of my biggest accomplishments.
On top of this, being able to start my professional career while in college with the Guardians has felt surreal and something I am proud of myself for working towards every day.
Q: How did your time at Massillon help prepare you for life after high school?
A: With being involved in so many activities while in school, I came to really appreciate the feeling of community that is built within those clubs and organizations and knowing that I'm surrounding myself with people who share the same common goals and interests as I do. Having that sense of community is something that I have carried into life after school and have found ways to build communities around me professionally and personally.
Massillon also further instilled in me that hard work does help you achieve what you set your sights on in life. Things might not always go your way, and that's okay—it’s how you respond to those setbacks and work toward what you want, and it will come your way.
Q: What advice would you give to current Tigers?
A: Make the most of your time at WHS and get involved with as much as you can! You will come to appreciate the friends and communities that you build while in school after you graduate, even if you think it feels cliché to hear.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share with fellow alumni?
A: I'm proud to be a Tiger and love telling all of the Clevelanders that I work with about the magic that is Massillon. As always—Go Tigers, beat McKinley!
