Bob Featheringham ('57) remembers fondly his time as a member of the Massillon Tiger Swing Band. When he heard about the MTSB's spring trip to perform at the Statue of Liberty, he knew he had to be there. Traveling with his wife 70 miles from their home in Toms River, New Jersey, Bob got an extra surprise when he discovered he was on the same ferry from the mainland to the statue. After chatting with MTSB Director Jason Neel, and WHSAA Alumni Association (and MTSB announcer) Bob Wenzel, he regaled the current low brass section with stories of his days playing trombone, including the time he marched with the band in the 1956 Rose Parade!
Once on Liberty Island, the Featheringhams joined a crowd of well over 100 to watch as the MTSB performed a show of patriotic music. As Bob said, "Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!"
